Have you always wanted to learn oil painting? Or do you already paint, butfind yourself frustrated or overwhelmed by recurring problems? My teaching emphasis will be on brushwork, color mixing, and keeping frustration to a minimum. Beginners or intermediate painters can expect to learn a lot of useful information quickly. I will focus on painting technique...we won’t be stretching canvases or making color wheels. We will keep it simple, using a direct painting approach and a limited palette. We’ll do a lot of practice work to get good at things like sharp edges, soft edges, lines,
gradations between colors, scumbling, and creating layered colors. I’ll teach you how to quickly and cleanly “erase” a mistake in wet paint so you can keep painting and get it right. We’ll dispel some old myths about painting too, such as “never use black paint.” And, we’ll be looking at lots of examples of other painters’ work so you can analyze what you like about their style.
