Are you a frustrated collage or mixed media artist…tired of seeing the papers you’ve been using….in another artist’s work. Are you yearning to make your work 100% original to you? Not enough studio space to create your own papers? Difficult to set aside the time to do so? Don’t like cleaning up the mess? This class answers all those challenges. A large, spacious, well-lit space with six-foot tables, two students per table, with two sink areas is available in Binder’s classroom area. This class specifically dedicated to creating individual manipulated papers using artists tissue, watercolor paper, rice paper---painting, stamping, stenciling, applying reliefs, sewing, encasing, distressing. There will be no art pieces created in class, only papers, so that you can channel your creativity into making each sheet a stunning, original artistic element for future use in your unique, original design. A wide variety of paper-altering techniques will be explored and it will be up to the student to choose which appeals to them individually. At the end of the class you will leave with a collection of totally unique-to-you papers to use in future art works.
