Impressionist Painting
Instructor: Halima Washington
Wednesdays, 6-sessions • Aug. 20 - Sept.
24 • 6-8pm
Fee: $120
Learn how to create a vivid impasto painting reminiscent of Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. Instead of focusing primarily on painting fundamentals, this class encourages artistic freedom and explores open composition, movement, textured brush strokes, and vibrant color. You can use your favorite photographs of any subject or the still life set-up prepared by the instructor. There will be a short demonstration at the beginning of class of various impressionist techniques, color theory, the use of the palette knife, atmospheric perspective and how to add mood to a painting with the use of light to depict a certain time of day.
